Arriving
Your private transfer drops you at the gate, and there it is: stone walls, shutters propped open, the smell of citrus drifting over from the garden. Someone’s already taken your bags inside before you’ve worked out where to put your sunglasses. Just twenty minutes from Dubrovnik’s lively Old Town, but you wouldn’t know it up here, the world outside the gate goes quiet fast. This is Villa Brsečine, and for the next five nights, it’s yours.
The afternoon is yours
In your bedroom, you unpack slowly, or not at all yet, because the pool is right there through the window and it’s still warm out. Some of the group find it within minutes. Others wander the garden first, working out which terrace corner is going to be theirs for the week.
There’s no plan for this afternoon, and none is needed. You could swim, stretch out with a book, or just sit with something cold and watch the garden shift as the heat softens.
Golden hour
The light starts to turn somewhere around six. Gold first, then that deep amber that Dubrovnik does so well, and the terrace begins to fill. This is when the local chef arrives, and the smell of the BBQ starts drifting across the pool before you’ve even sat down. Drinks get poured. Someone puts music on, the mood is set and excitement is high.
Dinner on the terrace
Dinner isn’t rushed and nobody’s watching the clock. You’re sitting with women you met a few hours ago, and somehow the conversation is already flowing easily; the kind that skips small talk and goes somewhere real. The chef keeps the plates coming. The wine keeps getting topped up. Stories come out that wouldn’t normally surface on a first evening anywhere else.
Nightfall
By the time the sun’s properly set on the horizon, the candles have taken over and the terrace has that low hum to it, the sound of a table that isn’t ready to end. Nobody’s checking the time. Nobody’s thinking about tomorrow yet, though there’s gorgeous days that await: oysters on the Pelješac coast, a boat day through the Elaphiti Islands, a sunrise hike with the whole city laid out below.
But that’s tomorrow. Tonight is just this. The villa, the table, the sound of the pool lapping quietly, and a group of women who arrived as strangers this morning and no longer feel that way anymore.
It is not just a place to sleep. It is a big part of the experience.
This is day one. There are five more waiting. See the full Dubrovnik itinerary →
