Founders
Some businesses start with a business plan. Soladea started with a friendship, a lot of air miles and a shared inability to stay in one place for too long.
We met in a restaurant in London, UK, in 2007. Rebecca was studying photography, Nicole had just arrived from Cape Town, South Africa, and somehow we both ended up at the same five day restaurant academy training together. Long days learning the menu, the wine list, the art of making people feel looked after. By the end of it we were firm friends, with a shared appreciation for good food, a well chosen glass of wine and the kind of company that makes the time disappear.
We’ve been finding excuses to meet up ever since.
Nicole eventually moved back to Cape Town.
When Rebecca joined a luxury airline not long after, the distance should have made things harder. Instead it just meant better meetup locations. She’d fly into Cape Town and Nicole would show her around. When Nicole moved to Phuket, Thailand, Rebecca found her way there too. London, Thailand, Croatia, beach bars, viewpoints, restaurant tables in cities we can’t always remember the names of. Wherever we landed, we found each other.
Us through the years, from London to Cape Town to Phuket...
Between us we’ve lived on yachts in the Med, worked the skies, built businesses, called four different countries home and collected friends from every corner of the globe. We’ve also always known how to find the best table, the right music and a sunset worth staying up for.
How Soladea
Started
Soladea came from a simple conversation about the kind of trips we’d always wanted to go on. Sun-soaked, unhurried, in genuinely beautiful places with women who get it. We realised we’d been doing this for years, just not officially.
So here we are. Officially.
